Hanumans Jump

"Maybe I can do it," Hanuman thought to himself as he heard Jambavan speak of him in such a great manner. "  I will go to Lanka and there I could discover Sita or bring Ravana back to face for all the wrong he has done.

Hanuman sent a prayer to the gods that they may guide his journey and send winds to carry him to Lanka. He gathered all his might and bent his legs down in stance ready to take the greatest leap of his life. He felt a warmth circulating through his veins and then he jumped.

Hanumans Jump  ( part 2)

The unstoppable Hanuman leaped from the creatures mouth and left her behind in peices. " Too easy," Hanmuman thought to himself as his feet impacted the earth of Lanka.

Both stories are inspired from Hanumans Leap, one of the assigned stories from this week in the Ramayana. It was one of my favorites from the readings! Hope you enjoy!

  1. Emily, I really enjoyed reading this short story and you did an excellent ob telling a good story with so few words! The leap stuck out to me too while I was reading the Ramayana and it was refreshing to see your version of it! Keep up the good work!

  2. I really like the condensed nature of this story. It is vivid with imagery and is easily digestible. I am the most interested in Hanuman in these Indian epics, and Hanuman's great ability to leap is something that I have never thought about focusing on. The subject actually makes a pretty cool short story though. I really like the detail about Hanuman's legs getting warmed up before the jump.
