Rama threatened to dry up the waters of the sea with a firey dart, The King of the ocean rose from the aid and told him to seek the aid of chief Nala then he vanished back into the ocean. Nala was called upon to give aid and he and his workmen constructed a causeway of rocky island between the mainland and lanka and it is called Ramas bridge.

Dreadful were the omens of war that showed themselves. Then Rama beholding lanka towering up to pierce the heavens ..he laid siege to Lanka. Meanwhile Ravana spies gathered news and brought their information of Lanka to Ravana. They advised him of Ramas resistless power and advised him to surrender Sita. Ravana grew angry of this news and sent his spies away. Ravana sent other spies but they brought back the same news and there was nothing left to do but to surrender sita. First, Ravana planned to betray sita to his will so he told her that the monkey host had been dispersed and Rama slain and a rakshasi came in bringing the resemblance of ramas head and bow and sita recognized them, began to cry, and begged to be slain next to ramas head so she may follow him. Suddenly a messenger came in calling ravana to battle and he turned to the field of war and he left the head and bow vanished and thats when Sita knew that is was just an illusion.
