Hanuman and Sita

Sugriva and Hanuman

Sugriva sent Hanuman to disguise himself as beggar and see the purpose of the presence of Rama and his Brother. When Hanuman encountered the brothers he asked their purpose for being there and rama could see right through the disguise and told Lakshmana that this is surely the chief counsellor of Sugriva, Hanuman. Then Hanuman Agreed to take them to the chief after he felt like his pain was relatable to ramas.

Sugrivas Story

Sugrivas story goes that he was with his brother, Vali, who was running from demons pursuing him. Upon this they found a hole to hide in and vali leaves sugriva to the mouth until he returns. He guarded faithfully for a year and his brother did not return so he assumed he was dead he then returned to the kingdom and ruled his brothers subjects for him. Vali was not dead though he was trapped in the mountain because rocks had filled the top. He returned to his kingdom and did not believe the story of his brother surgiva but instead accused him of trying to kill him for the throne. Sugriva was then exiled and he lives alone among his men and hanuman. He asks ramas help to meet vali in battle and challenge him.

Sugriva and Vali

Tara begged for Vali not to face his brother and Rama in battle. Vali does not listen and goes on to face them in battle. Vali and sugriva both speak of the other demise and their own assurance in winning the battle between themselves.

Valis death

Sagriva and vali fight an intense battle each holding their own and then Vali gains the upper hand against his younger brother. Rama sees this and pulls out his bow and pierces Vali with a fatal blow leading to his death.

King sugriva

vali is dead and tara is sad and cries over her husbands death. Sugriva also was saddened by his brothers demise and others praised the mighty Rama. Sugriva is then proclaimed king and his name was no longer tainted.

Rainy Seasons

Sugriva agrees to help Rama regain his precious wife, sita but he has to wait till the rainy season is over. Rama has to live in the wilderness with his brother Lakshmana due to the terms of his exile. Rama struggles with the idea of sitting and waiting.

The Armies

When the rainy season is over Rama becomes frustrated with the lack of action of Sugriva. Sugriva made no efforts to fulfill his promise to help regain sita. Lakshmana goes to sugriva to remind him of his promise to Rama because he has only spent his days drinking and spending time with his wives. Upon hearing this, he quickly gathers his armies and sends four different divisions to north, south, east, and west to search for sita.

Sampati

After a month the divisions from the north, west, and east came back with no news of sita. The southern division searched the mighty ocean the home of varuna and still no site of sita. They sat there gazing over the sea for they dared not return empty handed to sagriva.  There dwelt a mighy vulture named sampati in a neighboring cave and he over heard the monkeys talk about sita carried by ravana and that ravana dwelt in lanka a hundred leagues across the sea. He told them that he had the power of foresigh and that he could see now that Ravana and sita are there in lanka and to avenge her rape and the murder of his brother.

Sampati and jatayu

Sampati spoke of his arrival to the southern tip of india he said he and his brother would fly together. One day his brother fainted and he saved his brother by getting inbetween him and the sun. The hot beams matter and withered up his wings and sampati fell on the summit of mount vindhya.

Hanumans Leap

the monkeys gathered and spoke of how to confirm if sita and Ravana were really in lanka and then finally the leader of the bears speaks of hanumans birth story and his great leap of three thousand leagues towards it because he thought it was a fruit. As he was hurtling through the air to make the jump to Lanka a grim Rashasi rose from the sea to devour him and he dashed into her mouth and grew exceedingly great burst away and left her dead and broken.
